Dr. Mauricio Gutierrez
Dr. Mauricio Gutierrez is a Cum Laude graduate of Boston College, where he received a BS in Biology/Neuroscience. He earned his D.M.D. degree in 1999 from the Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, where he graduated in the top 5 percent of his class. Dr. Gutierrez completed his post-doctoral training at the University of Texas, where he received his Certificate in Periodontics, along with a Master of Science degree, from the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio.
Dr. Gutierrez is Board Certified in Periodontology and Oral Implantology. He is also an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration, and Fellow at the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and International College of Dentists. He is a two-time past President of the Central Palm Beach County Dental Association. Dr. Gutierrez’s special areas of interest and treatment within his specialty of Periodontics include dental implants and soft tissue grafting, topics on which he has lectured both locally and nationally.
While at UTHSCSA, Dr. Gutierrez was also an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Periodontics. Dr. Gutierrez joined our practice in 2002, and became a partner soon thereafter. He served as Assistant Professor at the VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL and also taught at the Atlantic Coast Dental Research Clinic, where he served as co-chair of the Periodontics and Dental Implantology section.
Born in Costa Rica, and raised in Miami, Dr. Gutierrez is fluent in English and Spanish, and proficient in Italian. Since 2004, Dr. Gutierrez has been a (Board Certified) Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, a distinction held by only 65% of practicing periodontists. Dr. Gutierrez was recently accepted to the prestigious Straumann Speaker Consortium and has lectured nationally on the topic of Dental Implant Esthetics.
Dr. Gutierrez and his wife Pilar, a Fashion Marketing Executive, married in 2015 and were blessed with the birth of their daughter Giuliana in 2018. Dr. G and Pilar were childhood friends who ‘reunited’ in 2012 after a 25+ year friendship. They have made West Palm Beach their home and enjoy being active members of the local community.
